There is a condition, where the open lasso shape will select only objects that are crossed.</p>

Still Alt modifier doesn't select the intersecting object instead it select all the object inside.</p>

If so, the objects intersecting the lasso are all selected. Otherwise only objects inside the lasso are selected.</p>
