<![CDATA[File crashes when opening]]>I was making a document, and did some work on it, but after I saved the file and closed vectorstyler, the file now crashes every time i try to open it or import it. please help. I kept saving over the same version rather than making a new version each time (my fault) but this is a bit disheartening...

Yes, sometimes panels (as are updated for the opened) file may be part of the problem.

I can replicate this on Windows (does not crash on Mac).
I will try to have the fix in the next build, meanwhile as a workaround, keep the Links panel closed when opening documents 🙂

If we don't show it before opening the problematic VectorStyler file, the application will not crash.

To reproduce the crash:

  1. Open any VectorStyler file or create a new document. Make sure the Links panel appears. Close it.
  2. Open the problematic VectorStyler file. The application will crash.

The workaround:

  1. Open any VectorStyler file or create a new document. Make sure the Links panel doesn't appear. Close it.
  2. Open the problematic VectorStyler file. The application will not crash.

I tested this with the file I emailed and @coolio00111 's file

I also checked and unchecked the Rendering, Document and Image Threads. When they are checked, the values are 16.

I have restarted my computer as well, but the files still crash VectorStyler

Try selecting software, restart, and then open the file.

So for it seems to be opening fine on both Windows 10 and 11, and also on Macs (Intel and M1).

One thing to try is to restore the app to defaults by holding control+alt+shift while starting it.

You will be able to open it on your system, because the linked images aren't embedded in the VectorStyler file. Unfortunately, I can't share the linked images (the bitmap files), but I think you can use the VectorStyler file for investigation.

As for the file conversion, I can't share those files, so I will just wait for the new build. Thanks

I can't find the crash log file in C:\Users<user>\NumericPath and C:\Users<user>\NumericPath\VectorStyler1.0

Please fix this as soon as possible, because I can't open many important files now

As a workaround for now, I recommend setting the "File Format" mode to "Binary" in the Document Setup.

The problem occurs when the "Compact" (default) format mode is used with certain image types.
