Weird move by keyboard values

I opened an AI file and noticed that the move by keyboard value was set to 1008.00 pt.
On a new file that value is 14in.
I didn't modify that parameter in preferences. In fact I've discovered it today, when my attempts to simply nudge an object from that AI file threw it out of the artboard.
Why isn't the default value more like 1px, or 1 pt? -
@tudor The default is (should be 1 pt) after install.
It can be set in the context panel.
Could it be that it was inadvertently modified?
It could also have been scrolled accidentally, while the mouse was hovering over it.
