Smooth Tool like in Illustrator

Would it be possible to add a smooth tool option like in Illustrator? I already use the current "simplify path" in VS often and it's a powerful tool, but it lacks the ability to finesse and clean up a specific part of the path - it operates on the whole selection.
The smooth tool in Illustrator allows for specific targeted smoothing by the user - as shown in this video
There are times when the current "simplify path" tool in VS is not the best option and having the smooth tool options like in Illustrator would give the best of both worlds in terms of smoothing options -
