Should custom guides not be selectable unless clicked on directly?

After converting a custom stroke into a guide, (View->Guides->Make Guides), should it not be selectable unless clicked on directly? That's one of the great features of standard guides. I can drag a selection box over them in part while selecting an object it overlaps and the guide is not selected. Should not this same property be added to the custom made guides?

@Boldline Currently these are just regular objects. I open a bug on this one to have special handling for selection.
