I noticed today when I tried to record a video using Record.it, The panels in VS disappear and I cannot press any buttons in VS either. As soon as I end the recording, access to the panels and use of the buttons in VS returns. I think this relates to the way VS hides panels and such when another app is clicked on for use.

@Boldline After starting the recording, click on the VS canvas and the panels should be back.

I tried this on both computers and had the same unwanted result. Here is a link to a video I took of my screen using one screen recorder video while capturing what happens when I select record.it and attempt a video of my screen with VS open. Panels all hide while I select and create the area box to record. Then as I click around, none of the panels return. When I go to the menu bar, the panel reveals itself on the screen, but trying to click on it directly after that, it's gone again. Panels on the far right cannot be interacted with at all while in record it

@VectorStyler Interesting update: I tried creating a Record it selection that did not take up the entire VS art board. I activated the record setting and then attempted to create shapes with the pen tool. If I created one OUTSIDE that selected record box, it worked normally, if I tried to create INSIDE the record box section, it did nothing. I can double-record it again, showing this in action if that helps

@Boldline The Recordit app is now old and seems to be abandoned — I have no issues
here on Monterey but maybe on newer macOS versions doesn't work as it should?

Or a restart of the Mac will fix it?

Hmm I just updated both machines to the new Sonoma OS. Maybe that is the cause? If so, I'm glad I did not pay for the Record It app earlier on!

This sounds like Recordit does not work well with some Mac apps. Did you try Recordit with other apps with floating panels?

Good idea! I just tested it with Affinity Designer 2 and had the same issues. So it seems like it is related to the new OS update and not specifically a VS issue.
