Is there anything that can be done about Christmas tree lighting around text shape or point text (what is the preferred name?). With snap to points + show indicators on, without having to toggle the snapping options menu every time for different actions.

@Ayo Snapping panel menu -> Snapping Options -> uncheck Show Nearby Points (bottom left checkbox).

          Better!
Also with only the Object Snapping Indicator now, again less clutter!

The problem arises that you have to keep a logbook or spreadsheet for all the settings and where to find them.🙄

            you could do that
and give it a meaningful name
