Could eraser/path brush not have the crosshairs ever extend much further than the circle?

Too often, especially when zooming in, the eraser/path brush cursor has the crosshairs extending ridiculously far out from the circle - it becomes a little cumbersome to use. Could they extend just a little beyond the circle at most?
