Can Erase Block modifier respect selections?

Can eraser tool with option modifier respect the active selection when it deletes? I LOVE the option in the eraser tool to create a squared off block erase.
I noticed it does not differentiate between selected and non selected items - whether the selection mode is toggled to "selection" or not . Here is a video showing this happening with or without the object/path selected

@Boldline Can be replicate here also. Seems to be a bug, somehow the block eraser mode also selects the objects.
