Is it possible to specify a number of steps in gradients?

I tried to find out if the gradients support defining of number of steps used between the end points. That would be useful when producing color ramps and wheels.

@Arde Not possible to have limited steps. Object blends can be used for fixed step color transitions.
Would such a feature be useful otherwise?

EDIT: it is not difficult to add such a feature.
