Colorize Blend Mode

It would be great to have a way to use the colorize effect to modify existing object colors with more flexibility and precision than current Fade cursor.
The Fade cursor seems to average color between current and new (respecting the options to preserve luminosity, saturation etc ...). It works well but tends to make the colors duller
If we could use blend modes to determine how the colorize effect is affecting current object colors, it would help build up the image color in successive passes (applying a palette, then a gradient with color burn, then a radial gradient with overlay mode ....)
