@asan The stroke profile can be turned into asymmetric with the Stroke Width panel menu Symmetric option.
And the Edit Profile command of the panel menu can be used to edit the asymmetric profile.

Is it possible to add a modifier key to switch to asymmetric

This is a really neat idea that I hadn't been on my radar at all, but certainly intrigues me in how it could be used in my inking process as well. I played around with it this morning in the new build. I'll have to try it out in my own process. I would love to see how you utilize this in your own inking process if you're willing to share details and/or examples of your process and results. Thanks!

I gave the new line width tool a try, I think we have bugs! Or it could just be on my system (mac mini OS 15.5).

                • Boldline* all of my work was done on Ill CS5, nothing to show on VS, yet. I am running CS5 on a 2019 macbook pro so I think I will have to move on soon(

If I click on a path with the width tool I can push/pull on a side dot to adjust both sides of the stroke, and I can click drag the center dot to move it on the path. This is good.
I can click the path to set a point then click Control (not control click) to adjust a side dot only, good so far. When I let up on the mouse the other side dot goes away, gone! Also if I click on the center dot to move it on the path it will not move. It creates another width point as I drag.
This is what I thought we might get:

                    Something like this.
I really would like to get away from Adobe!

@asan I will try to replicate and fix this for the next build.

It creates another width point as I drag.

In VS, when a stroke width profile is asymmetric, each side will have its own width locations. This is different from Illustrator where the location is always the same, only the widths are different.

I will try to add it as an option to share the locations, but it might be bit later.

@VectorStyler When clicking on a control point with the Width Tool, the panel does not display the width parameter of the current control point in real time. The change can only be seen when a stretching operation is performed. Could this display function be added?
