      If I have several separate pieces of live text that includes portions of the letters far above and some have descenders, how would I align them all again?

        @Boldline In the Snapping panel menu open Snapping Options and enable Snap to Path Boxes (second column around the center).
        This will create separate snapping positions for each glyph
