That may suit some parts of my workflow (the early stages) where color is not final, but I'd like to random select objects after color has been applied and using this coloring trick would not be easy.

      Understand that.
In case you dont know, Colorize allows also to randomize
Outlines or Fills only. Take a look in the "Options" Button
      in Colorize Panel.

      Win 11
      CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, 6-core.
      GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 5070.

That's a good idea. I did not think of using stroke color for this. Smart !
        I will try
        Thanks

Smart ? Thats not me 🙂
          Found this by Accident.
I am just curious and like to experiment.

@VectorStyler is the smart guy 🙂

@vectorstyler I noted you included this request in backlog. Thank you for that.

I’ve been using Vectorstyler a lot since I submitted that request and I still feel this feature would really add a lot of value. Maybe after 1.3 ....

Some suggestions on possible implementation options :

            • a dedicated panel seem needed
            • a percentage value determines how many objects get selected out of the total
            • limit to current selection option : when ticked considers only objects currently selected, for random selection. When unticked considers all objects in document/layer/artboard/view
            • seed button/value changes the seed for random selection, the selected objects are highlighted
            • select button : performs the selection, the selected objects are highlighted

additional « nice to have »

            Pattern selection

            • select every n/m object : example "select every 2/3" selects 2 objects every 3 objects. Allows for repetitive pattern selection
            • sort by : object index (the order by which objects were created), layer order, left to right position, top to bottom position, radius from center : defines the sorting criteria for applying the n/m selection
            • offset : allows to shift the first object selected out of the m subset

            Nodes

            • select nodes : with this option ticked, allows random selection of nodes across multiple objects (so we can move them, or change their type …)

            Thanks

@EricP The random selection will in 1.3, as for the rest, not sure yet. These are easy to do (and can be very useful), but time is limited for 1.3

                @VectorStyler oh wow that's great ! I wasn't even expecting it for 1.3.

                I will wait patiently 🙂
                Thanks !

Did you ever had a look at "Paragraphic" (PC/Mac) it may be
helpful in some cases. As i like to experiment, i find it a nice
companion besides VectorStyler. Results made in Paragraphic
could be easely copied via the Clipboard into VectorStyler.

It offers also a few possibilities for Pattern selection,
which my not be direct helpful but maybe indirect.

                  Here a Thread of mine
                  https://www.vectorstyler.com/forum/topic/4786/paragraphic-from-lost-minds-software-is-avaible-now

Here a Video about pattern selection

@Subpath yes I have been using paragraphic for a while and it is indeed a great tool and beautifully designed software. It is great for nested repeaters and geometric patterns

Indeed it is a nice companion to VS.
I'm currently experimenting with the Layer node, which allows
coloring vector objects using a bitmap.

Here's a video for anyone interested.

which allows coloring vector objects using a bitmap.

Using the Repeater’s Region or the Colorize (Effects menu) Region to color vector objects is also very convenient. I use them often and recorded a video for your reference.

@Li-Xiao thanks for the video ! That's funny, my next YT tutorial is about colorizer function and I'm also going to demonstrate the region coloring mode, which I like the best. I like the trick about clipping the image to adjust zoom and pan of reference image, that is smart.
