More Sensitive Path Simplifier and Dedicated Smooth Mode

I enjoy using the Path Simplifier tool, but it currently feels too aggressive at the lower Smoothness settings. Even very low values can remove too many nodes and substantially change the curve, sometimes reducing a curved section almost to a straight line.
Could the lower end of the Smoothness range be made more sensitive? For example, the first part of the range could make much smaller adjustments, allowing users to gradually clean up uneven curves without immediately changing their overall shape. Part of the issue could be that I was using a mouse and not a stylus for this and that rules out the useability of pressure as a factor
I would also like to suggest either:
- A dedicated Smooth tool, similar to Illustrator’s Smooth tool, or
- An additional mode within the existing Path Simplifier tool that switches between Simplify and Smooth.
The distinction would be:
- Simplify mode: Primarily reduces the number of nodes while smoothing the path.
- Smooth mode: Primarily evens out the curvature while preserving more of the existing nodes and the overall path shape.
The current tool is useful for reducing excessive nodes from traced or imported artwork, but it is difficult to use for subtle, localized curve cleanup. A less destructive Smooth mode would make it much easier to refine hand-drawn paths without flattening intentional curves.
