I am now ready to monkey around with the more advanced features of VS, for example 4 point distortion.

My first target was a document with several layers placed under one mother layer. I cannot distort the contents of that layer. Nor any other layer. I get no warning from VS that nothing valid is selected so I am not sure what I am doing right or wrong.

But distortions on groups of object, that works.

      So is how it works?

      • single objects
      • groups of objects

More or less what I get from the docs on blending:
"The Bending distortion stretches the shapes, in an object or group of objects, along a user edited path."

@Ingolf To work best with distortions, use the Shape Effects panel (so that parameters are accessible).

It is recommended to apply distortions to single objects or a group of objects.
For multiple objects, it is best to group them first (should automatically group, as an option in the panel menu).

So it is single objects and group of objects.

Distortions will not work a whole layer. It is best to group the layer content.
