Would loading a saved preference file negate a system reset?

I was working in VS and it got a little wonky - so I closed and reopened VS and that did not help much so I did a system reset (Shift+Option+Command)
Then I loaded my previously saved preference file. Would this negate the reset?
I had not saved my settings as a preference file prior and each time VS upgraded to a new build, or I needed to reset the app, I'd lose all the customization I had made. Obviously it's smarter to save them all to go back to when needed, but I was curious if that affected the usefulness of a reset -
@Boldline Partially would negate the reset.
The reset restores the settings (preferences) and workspace to the default.
When loading a preference file, that restores only the settings.
Customization to the toolbox, menu, shortcuts are stored in the workspace file, among a lot of other things (panel states, defaults, etc)But from the related issue, when VS gets wonky, and the preference file is loaded after a reset, does the issue go away, or it goes again wonky. This would be good to know, whether it is caused by something in preferences or in the workspace.
Also, when it gets to that wonky state, please send me the workspace.xml and settings.xml files (from ~/Library/Application Support/NumericPath/VectorStyler1.0/vector/data/resources/).

@vectoradmin ok, that makes sense. In this case, my computer had been using too much disk space and the machine needed a total reboot. It performed better after that. I commonly notice issues happening when I'm opening an eps or PDF file from another source. Vectorstyler seems to prefer its own graphics
