      Hey there,
guess what? It's me again ☺

A problem I have seen is that when I click in an editable field it gets selected... but it's grey. If you type the new value it's just adding numbers and making a mess.
You need to double click the field to make it blue so it gets eventually overwritten with the new value.

Is that the intended way? I'd reeeeeally love if fields get auto selected when I click onto them to edit.
      But maybe it's me πŸ™‚

@Torakikiii When you click the first time in an input field the app selects the entire number and the unit, and overwrites it if you type something else. At least this is what happens here.

But if you click the same input field again a second time it just places the insertion point where you click… it doesn't auto-select everything anymore until you click or edit some other number field. You need to double-click to select the entire number.

@b77 well actually if you look at the video I get a different story. First click it's gray, double click is all selected.
That said it's not happening always and nor in all the text boxes so... I'm at lost with this.

@Torakikiii Recording the entire screen makes it difficult to see exactly what happens… πŸ™‚
QuickTime allows you to record just a part of it: https://www.idownloadblog.com/2016/02/26/how-to-record-part-of-mac-screen-quicktime/

You could also post the macOS version number and the Mac model and processor in your signature.

@b77 yep @Boldline pointed me out to a different app for screen recording πŸ™‚
No more QuickTime in the future πŸ™‚

@Torakikiii Is it Recordit? I use it all the time, yes, but didn't recommend it in this case because its 4 frames per second are a bit too low to illustrate the problem properly.

@b77 I did suggest recordit - if he records that section of the screen it should work for that I'd think.

@Torakikiii said in Value highlight when editing properties:

I managed to replicate this issue under some conditions.
If VS is in the background and it is brought to the foreground, then the first click will not highlight.

Clicking on an other field and then clicking back should highlight from there on.

Is this the case for you also?

@vectoradmin I could not replicate your exact problem.
Anyway what I could replicate 90% of the times is this:

                      • open a new document
                      • draw a rectangle
                      • select the rectangle
                      • click on the W field of the transform panel, it will be grey with a typing cursor inserted
                      • deselect the rectangle
                      • repeat steps

9 out of 10 I get the grey box BUT... if you click on the Transform panel itself 10 out of 10 I get the W field highlighted.
I'm not a programmer but it looks like there's a focus problem when clicking directly into the W field, like the panel isn't active and needs a second click somewhere to get alive.
In fact if you click on the W field it will be grey but if you then click the H field it will be blue.

                      Hope it helps.
