Not really? In the default config no response from any of my numeric keys?

@Ingolf hmmm I was remembering using that, but maybe I was thinking of Affinity?

@Ingolf What if someone assigns a shortcut to a numeric key?

Numeric keys really should be reserved for this - when you get used to using numeric keys for this you get addicted. šŸ™‚

Otherwise it will then depend on general UX design principles used as a whole in a software product. Is the program generally proactive or not. Will you make it possible for users to assign shortcuts to keys in use without the interface warning them or block them from doing it in the assignment process or warn them.

I don't think it is a big issue here and now - users that configure custom shortcuts are rarely beginners and they will probably understand what they ruined. šŸ™‚ Maybe they are fine with that, maybe they will re-assign the shortcut or maybe they will come here for support or ask for a fix.

Personally I am UX hardliner though. I would reserve the keys for the program and avoid too much UX related code and need for dialogs and messages in the program. If met with streams of customer tears that decision could be changed later.

@Ingolf Sounds like this is getting close to being implemented. šŸ™‚
                    …

@vectoradmin What if you are on a laptop with no Numeric Pad?

Can we have a Preferences option to 'Emulate NumPad' with the number keys?

@b77 It will be with any of the number keys. I think it is the same in AD.

No need for this. Simply add assignable shortcut commands for "Set transparency to 0%", "Set transparency to 10%", etc., and make the number keys the defaults.

                          No thanks.
The idea is that any number appropriate for the object can be entered fast and simple as in AD. 0, 12, 25, 45. No restrictions. It is very easy and fast to use that way.
                          Affinity did this perfectly right.

@b77 There is an option in Preferences -> Document Editor to disable this if needed: Opacity Editing Keys
