Mouse drag to highlight empty live text space

Could we add the ability for the mouse to be able to drag over an empty text space in order to delete it and clear it? Here is a video of my attempt to select with the mouse, the empty live text space on the far right of the name. I'd love to be able to highlight this space and be able to delete it quickly
