Why am I getting these weird line working with the Anchor Point Tool?

  • I am not sure if this is a bug of some sort but I don't find much in the manual about how the Anchor Point Tool works. I understand you can modify the nodes but as I do that I get these weird lines pointing here and there. At the very beginning a line is pointing way off the canvas towards the middle of the universe and I don't understand why.

    1. Use the Pen Tool to add a couple of straight line segments.
    2. Grab the Ancho Point Tool and start clicking on nodes. Sometimes the node is deleted but if you drag on a node it becomes a curved node.
    3. I can't pin point the logic but on occasions you get these lines pointing towards nodes that were deleted, sometimes they point to some other directions. What is the idea behind this?

Is this a bug... especially at the beginning when the pointing line goes off canvas?

Maybe it's better if you watch a short video:

  • @pentool

I'm not sure if that's a bug either, but it seems like it is.
In my experiments I found that this is related to "Preview next segment
    in the Pen Tool" setting.
    ( Preferences > Changes > " Preview next segment .... )
If you disable this setting everything works as expected.

@pentool THat last line is the control point and handle of the curve to be continued by the pen tool.
It should not be visible in the anchor point tool, I will fix this ASAP.
