First, compliments for the progress in the version 1.2 Beta. Aestetish's sharp-cornered user interface is a big improvement over the rounded version. A much more mature look. Too bad about the redundant layer unlock symbols.

      Now for the functionalities.

Is it Release to Layer or Release to Layers?
      I can't get what I hoped for:

Opening a QGIS svg file with the QGIS-layers saved as groups. In Illustrator I am used to opening this and clicking on layer 1 and then giving the command 'Release to Layers (sequence)'. The result is that all groups (while retaining group properties) are placed in their own layer.

Why can't I get this done in the VS with the new 'Release to Layer' function?

@Ayo In VS you need to select the groups that are release to layers. I will try to improve this to work in a way that is expected.

@VectorStyler said in Release to Layer[s]:

In VS you need to select the groups

If you have to select groups manually, the 'Layer from Group' function is sufficient. Does the same.
