Update defined character and paragraph styles, how?

In other apps one can define a character/paragraph style and update it in the following proces, like select, change size and update. How is this done in VS?

@Raaskot Select the text and with the Panels -> Styles -> Character (or Paragraph) Styles panel, press the 4th panel button.
