How to convert enveloped effects to Curves?

When I try to convert effects to curves this apply to original text characters only. Styles-->Expand appearence is unavailable.

What do I do?

@Raaskot Image effects cannot be converted to curves. When you use the Envelope effect it must be added as a Shape Effect
