Sampling Colors from imported images/ artboard/background

Is there a way to use the eyedropper to sample colors from imported images, from the artboard itself, etc. ?
Right now it just turns the fill into an empty fill/empty stroke shape -
@Boldline Shift-click with the Style Picker tool (shortcut: I) should pick color from bitmaps and also from the artboard and the area around it.

@b77 Thanks - I should have attempted modifier keys before posting. I'm wondering what is gained by making it require a shift modifier? This would make sense to me if you wanted to sample color from an image completely outside of VS on your screen -

@Boldline It's in the name of the tool — Copy Style. Simple click with it copies the fill(s), stroke(s) AND the image effects of another object. Shift-click picks only the fills and strokes from vector objects and color from bitmaps.
