Could we control the tracking of text, whether full sentences or selected portions by using option-right/left arrow?

@vectoradmin In the Keyboard Shortcuts Control-Option-Period is listed as the shortcut for increasing the tracking, but it doesn't seem to work?

@Boldline I would also prefer something that works with the Arrow keys.

I know how to use the tracking in the text panel - and that is fine, but I miss the ability to just click to highlight the text and tweak it on the fly

@Boldline I agree. What I meant was that I would prefer the shortcuts for tracking to use the Arrow keys, because it makes more sense — I get it that the 'Less Than' and 'Greater Than' signs on the Comma and Period keys look like arrows, but…

@b77 yes I'm totally understanding. Sometimes I try to communicate more background information for others who are reading it later.

@Boldline I'am not sure , but you can make it by pressing ALT+ Arrow. I'm not sure if it's default shortcut or created . You should check. I'm working often with tracking and assigned tracking to mouse roll profile (X-mouse button control app)

@b77 Have you ever tried pressing the spacebar without releasing the mouse button when creating a node? ☺ https://recordit.co/CNBuWspbp7

@b77 @encart I went into my keyboard preferences and found it! For me it's default shortcut is control-alt-. This is one I will modify the shortcut to for sure

@encart Nice option. 👍 I might have stumbled over it but I forgot (I kinda prefer to use the Path Sketch tool tbh). 🙂

@vectoradmin When holding the spacebar as @encart describes above, the node doesn't snap to another node when 'Snap to Points is enabled, so this nice feature is a bit limited.

@Boldline and @vectoradmin I think it's a mistake there in 'Keyboard Shortcuts' — the shortcut is somehow different.

@encart It's a lot like holding down the command/control key while using the pen tool - allows you to modify the node placement and handles

@vectoradmin For consistency, I think it would make sense to use Option + Up/Down Arrow for increasing and decreasing the leading (the space between rows of text).

You think it was supposed to be option-left or right arrow all along?
I remember bringing this topic up a long time ago but had forgotten where it ended up then

The developer has to know that.

@Boldline @b77 @encart The Option + Left/Right arrow for tracking is in the default shortcuts for tracking change.

                                      @vectoradmin Option-Command + Up/Down Arrow doesn't do anything to text here. I also tried with Control-Option + Up/Down Arrow.

@b77 Option-Command + Up/Down Arrow shortcut is used for Object -> Arrange -> Bring to Front / Send to Back in selection mode.
Command + Up/Down is used for Forward / Backward arrangement.
