Is there a setting to keep each brush stroke autonomous from the next? Sometimes if I overlap or get close to my previosu stroke, it automatically joins the two brush strokes together - or it replaces completely the first stroke.
I'm sure some of this is intentional and helpful in some circumstances

You can do that by pressing Esc.

        I guess I was wrong

@encart @Boldline For me at least the Esc works.
But there is also a Preferences -> Changing Options -> Don't Extend with Pencil that can be checked to skip extension even if selected.
