Cusp Retraction shortcut causes strange results

I'm frequently running into issues using the cusp retraction shortcut double-tapping the "L" The tool shortcut itself is a game-changer for me in my work, but often it seems to throw a selected node into haywire. I saw this often with imported vectors from other programs or from a 3rd party vector trace program (Vector Magic) and assumed it was because some of the nodes were not being identified correctly, but this example I uploaded here in this post was all created inside of VS with the pen tool and fill shapes - nothing came from outside of VS
This topic has been brought up before, but with this example of it happening within VS involving all native VS nodes, I felt it was worth mentioning
