I've noticed that if I group items in an open file and then copy and paste that grouping into a new document, the grouping is not kept in the new one. At first I thought this was related to the file type, but I tested it with eps, ai and native VS files with the same result.

@vectoradmin Great! I think that bug has contributed to my layers systems getting clogged up and disorganized because pasting a something like this (see below) and having it break the grouping and become a million sublayers can get confusing! It will be nice for groups to be honored between open files. thanks!

@vectoradmin This may already be understood - but if I could add on a tangent thought to the original issue - even when opening existing files, VS does not seem to honor groupings saved in that file, if they are not VS files... so eps, AI, etc....

To clarify, VS seems to group everything together when you open a non-VS vector file and so far the only way to access things is to ungroup it - but this breaks any smaller level groupings that were part of the file. Is there a better way to access them?

With VS native files, if I group things and save and reopen, the groups are still intact as they should be.

Yes, there might be one additional group level added when opening other than VS files. The reason is that these are basically imports into an empty VS document.

A single ungroup should not break smaller level groups. If this happens than it might be a bug.

I am pretty sure this is happening - I will run a test and get back to you
