Unusual selection box when dragging a copy of a vector with option modifier

I noticed in the last few builds, if I am trying to copy a vector using the option key, I get a strange selection box I don't remember seeing before. Is this normal?

@Boldline Doesn't happen here. Is the ball a group of objects or something else?

@b77 ok it seems to occur if I am duplicating multiple ungrouped objects. The ball in the example was actually several ungrouped parts. When I grouped them and tried again I did not get that selection box
