      @Igull
When you hover with the Select/Transform tool, it's a darker blue highlight.

When you hover with the Shape Editor tool it's a highlight in the color of the layer.

Maybe that's why it looks less visible there?

@VectorStyler Btw, it doesn't show the nodes on hover with the Shape Editor tool if you have 'Show Nodes when Hovering' enabled in Prefs > Editing Options 2.

No, that's not the reason - in preview mode it just uses black and it still doesn't show until you've actually selected an object first, then all the other nodes on the page show when moused over.

Whether that's checked or not, it always shows object nodes - that might be an issue too 🙂

One other thing to note, is if you use the SE tool and select an object, if you switch in or out of outline preview you lose the highlighting again.
There might be an issue with a couple of the other tools too, I'll need to check.

@Igull You didn't mention 'preview mode' in your first post. By that you mean the normal Vector Preview or Outline Preview (Cmd-Y)?

In any case, I would write a simple step-by-step instruction to replicate this, or record the screen if possible (free app here: recordit.co)

TBH, it's a bit simple to require a video 🙂

I've just been having another look ...

Either in Vector or Outline preview modes, using the Shape Editor Tool, highlighting will not work unless you select an object first with that tool - that will then enable highlighting.
If you switch to another tool and return to the Shape Editor Tool, that will disable it and you have to again select an object for highlighting to work.

As an aside, it doesn't matter if the Show Nodes when Hovering preference in Editing Options 2 is enabled or not - this preference seems to be broken for all tools.

Even with the simple stuff - using videos and screen shots can help everyone to understand - especially when we're located all over the world and speak different languages. It's just good practice to over- communicate when possible

@Igull I added this to the backlog, and will try to replicate it.

I take on board your comment and in future, I shall attempt to create a video where I feel that it will be of benefit to the explanation. If the explanation is extremely simple and a video or screenshot would not offer any gain to the explanation, then I won't. I do fully understand the multi-national nature of this forum (as in other worldwide fora).

In this case I'll simplify my explanation even further and without the inclusion of any possible solutions that I may have proferred ...

Node highlighting does not work using the Shape Editor Tool 😁

@Igull I understand where you are coming from and no one is trying to make you do anything you don't want to. I can say however, there have been several times over the last couple years, that my including screenshots and/or a video has revealed a different bug or issue besides the one I was highlighting - or someone saw a solution for something else that way...

@Igull It's OK, I understand what you mean without a video (finally). It's just that the first explanation was a bit different than the title.

So the actual nodes are not visible on hover immediately after switching to the Shape Editor (A) — you have to select an object first.

You can however click any (invisible) node and even drag it directly. Is that working there?

I've processed thousands of bug reports and feedback from all sorts of people, and increasingly appreciate visual explanations:

                        • Because I don't always read sentences correctly
                        • Because people very often don't get written what they think they wrote
                        • Because the brain and one's cognitive system is visual
                        • Because I remember the subject more easily when I see it visually a week later
                        • Because I am simply drowning in information and text on a daily basis in my work and leisure time, and simply digest even more text and information less well during the day
                        • Because the international aspect you mention

I'm sure @vectorstyler feels the same way, and he even has to link it to the programming code. Ungh.

                        Best methods I know:

                        • Steps to reproduce in short language and bullet points
                        • Video as well

In addition, you can fill in all sorts of chit chat, as is my habit 🙂

Apart from that, I think you are right @Igull - but my Saturday brain asked my Monday brain to assess it. 🙂
