      I've been meaning to mention this for a while, on my Mac at least, when doing an Open Document, the file list presented is invariably greyed out.
      This is with a Flat Dark UI, I haven't tried with other UI's.
      Occasionally, after around 10 seconds or so it will refresh and then show the files highlighted - most of the time however, they just stay greyed.
      Even though 'greyed out', you can still select and open them - I'm guessing it may just be a Mac thing ?

          @Igull Could be a refresh issue. Here when opening a folder, the files inside are greyed out for less than a second then everything is displayed properly.

              No, internal and it's an SSD drive too, so pretty fast.
              Never see it with any other applications.

                That's what I'm thinking, it displays the file list instantly, but VS (I think - not the OS?) has to make the decision on whether they are valid filetypes it can open and then highlight them.

                  @Igull Cannot replicate it here.
                  Maybe a recording or a screenshot might give some hint.

                    Mmmm, this morning for some reason it is taking only a second to show exactly the same listing that took 10s yesterday.
                    I'll try loading up the app with some more files and see if it starts to choke.
                    I have around 4 other apps open - same as yesterday - and no shortage of RAM - 32Gb.
                    If it continues to happen, I'll note down any changes and make a video.
