@Boldline 'Slade' and 'Jenny' have a Transform applied to them, that's why they are
displayed bigger than 12 pt: https://recordit.co/f2fcI7ffZV

Ok that makes sense, but what I donโ€™t understand is how to scale the text without it causing a discrepancy between the font size and the transform size.
In illustrator, for example, you can transform the live text box and the font size corresponds to it. Iโ€™ve seen vs do the same at times.

Yes, it apparently works if you change the size by dragging the corner of the text box. But if you use the transform panel, the size in pts is unchanged despite the modification of size.

It should be checked. I will test with the attached file.

@VectorStyler I pulled up the shape effects panel as @b77 had mentioned and indeed, two of them have a transform connected to them. If I remove the transform, they shrink back to their regular font size (12 pts). If I scale them with the transform tool again, they regain a new transform effect in the shape effects panel, but the font remains 12 pts. If go back to where it had no transform effect applied and then use the font size controller in the contextual menu to size it up to a larger size, it will work properly, and then even if I adjust it from that step with the transform tool again, it sizes again based on the font pt size and does not create a new transform effect.

Here is a video of this - it shows everything aside form the font number increasing

Looks like for some reason the direct shape transformation did not work on this text, I will try to find out why.

@VectorStyler do you need me to send you the font file? would that be a factor?

It could be, but no need to send it for now.
