When you select the Shape Builder Tool, there's a numeric control in the Context Toolbar called "Gap".

When you double click the Shape Builder Tool, there's a numeric control in the Shape Builder dialog box called "Gap Space".

The one in the Context Toolbar doesn't have a unit. The one in the dialog has (px). They both has a max limit of 64 and they both have the same tooltip text.

When you enter a value into the dialog box, the one in the Context Toolbar doesn't update. When you enter a value in the Context Toolbar, the one in the dialog box updates.

      This should be more streamlined/fixed/etc.

@pentool I think the unit issue needs fixing, but for now I would keep the redundant field.
The reason for this: the modal view should contain all the settings of the tool (regardless if accessible elsewhere), and the context panel contains a subset of this (among other things).
This pattern is used in other editors also.
