I thought the Node Tool was the Shape Editor or vice versa but I just wasted a good amount of minutes trying to figure out which is the Node Tool.

It seems the documentation is correct because everywhere in the docs the "Node Tool" is being mentioned. However, on the Toolbar the tooltip says "Shape Editor". Prolly should be renamed to avoid confusion.

@pentool I can update the name.

There is one problem here: it also edits the attributes of parametric shapes (ellipses, polygons, stars).

@VectorStyler said in Shape Editor vs Node Tool:

I opt for the name Node Tool. Shape Editor is too large, global and generic.
For both curves and shapes, it is a Node that is being edited (detailing).

It doesn't matter what the name is as long as it syncs with the documentation. When and if a new user is reading the manual and sees references to "Node Tool" but there's no "Node Tool" anywhere, how will the person know it's the "Shape Editor" its referring to?

When you look at the docs, there's not even a screenshot of the tool itself (eg the tool icon)

Also, when you search the docs for "Shape Editor" you find nothing.

I know but my thought was only forward-looking towards meaningful naming which isn't always the case in VS

@Ayo Correct. Most (if not all) programs call it Node Tool or Anchor Point Tool, etc. So people coming from other programs can relate this way.
