On windows "Isolate Group in Layers Panel" and "Add / Remove Selection in Lists" both use the modifier key of Control.

According to the documentation, they use different keys on MacOS, but on Windows they are both bound to control by default.
This makes it isolate any object I'm trying to add to my selection. Setting the modifier key for Isolate Group in Layers Panel to none resolves this issue.

Yes, there is a bit of a shortage of modifier keys. I will try to find better defaults.
