I cannot rename a Layer by doing a single click on the name. I have to double click for the Layer Options dialog. Then I can easily rename all Layers by single click. Took me a while to realize we could rename because this was broken for me.

@debraspicher I'm on a mac and you're on windows so it might be apples/oranges, but for me in the layers panel, I can click once to select the layer I want to edit and then click one more time on the name and it opens the name edit for me there. Double clicking just opens the layer panel settings here

@Boldline That's good to have confirmed how it should work. It's hard to see in the video because the mouse feedback icon shares almost exactly the same color as the interface, but there's a little icon in the video showing when I click, and then double click above the mouse highlight, and it's not activating the field for rename. It seems intermittent like many of the Windows UI glitches. There's other panel misbehavior going on where mouse clicks simply don't register at times, at other times just fine. So I'm finding that I don't know what "normal" behavior is because the issues with tool/cursor/UI focus is recurrently glitching. I haven't reported them all as I'm still trying to collect them individually.

As to this issue, right now I'm able to rename perfectly fine after having opened up the Layers Options. I had the same problem not long before this clip and I was able to fix it the same way, so it's recurred at least 2x in this session.

@debraspicher side note: for me, when I watch your screen videos(the one in this thread for sure), it takes about six seconds before the video is not blurry. I wondered if it was a buffering issue but even when restarting the video without closing the window, it remains blurry for that initial time. If you watch your own video link, does it happen for you, too?

@Boldline It's Microsoft's built-in player. Toggling "Change automatically" for Resolution seems to fix it, otherwise it does its own thing at the beginning of a video. Unfortunately when I generate a Share link, it forces their player. There is an option to download it directly in the menu. I'll check later if there is a way to bypass the player...

I'm not sure as I have to do more testing, but I think using the tablet pen to tap the Layer causes the focus to break between click behavior and other UX. This is almost always happening when I work with Pencil tool (so mostly tablet). The Layers are suddenly unresponsive to click commands. Opening the Layer Options doesn't immediately revive response so tablet clicks almost certainly worsen things. I will try turning off Windows Ink, etc, later and maybe dropping tablet entirely and seeing if it doesn't reproduce again.

Edit: I also turned off Key N' Stroke and MS PowerToys, jic.

@debraspicher Renaming inside the Layers panel should work when using single mouse clicks.
One thing to try (when it is not working) is to click away (to deselect) and then select and click again on the selected item. You should not double click.

I will test this more and will try to replicate the issue and find a fix.

Renaming while selecting with tablet pen will not work.

This might be directly related. This might not be...? Here is another example of where the UI is very prone to input errors and I can attest there's quite a few examples of this with more usage.

In this video, the visibility toggle is triggering a Layer rename very consistently.
Note: This was after a workspace refresh:

You can also see in the recording I will press the mouse and nothing will happen with the visibility toggle. Many interactions with the UI require multiple tries for them to take.

Other example: Ctrl + 3 (Reset Rotation) which I use often not registering after multiple key-presses. I have to keep pressing the keyboard combination until it finally takes. Other zoom-related commands work the same. It's as if the interface is constantly being pulled partially out of focus or there is some issue taking input from the user. It impacts mouse, tablet and keyboard.

@debraspicher I will try to find out what can cause this and fix it.
