path extension tool

The path in the form shown in the figure cannot use the path extension tool

You can temporarily deactivate the outline effect
call the Effect via Menu > Effects > Edit shape effects

Click on the eye symbol once, this temporarily deactivates
the shape effect.

After deactivating the Shape Effect, the Path can be
edited with the Extend Path tool
