Split text feature does not work.

@encart 'Split Text' (Characters, Words and Lines) works here on the Mac. Do you mean it stops working after a while on Windows?

@Boldline @b77 Works as it wants. At the time of writing the post, none of the text splitting options were working. Restarting the program and creating a new document did not help. I have done this several times. After I gave up, I did something else, saw your posts and checked again. It works. I cannot assign it to anything.

I noticed this the other day - just use the "upload file" option in the chat box? Would you prefer we send files here or still send them to your email?

Would someone be willing to explain what split text is? Or link to where I could learn about it? I was checking the documentation but did not see it there. It may be something I already know by another name but I'd like to be sure - thanks!

Depends on the content of the file. The files uploaded here are public and will stay here (at least for some time).
If you have some client designs, you may want to keep them private, in which case send by email, and I usually remove them once I can identify and replicate the issue.

@Boldline 'Split Text…' from the Text menu splits a text into separate text objects…

by Character (each character becomes a separate text object);
by Word (each word becomes separate text), or…
by Line (each row of text becomes a separate text object).

@b77 oh ok! I see it now - thank you. This is a powerful tool!
I don't know how long it's been here but I do remember talking about adding this type of functionality a while back on the forum. I must have missed it when it was added.
This comes in handy for me because I do a lot of shirt designs with team rosters on the back, or people want a poem and I'd have to go in and select each section one by one in a time-consuming manner.

@Boldline I was pretty sure that you were in charge of this tool:) The tool is available moments after our posts. I added a button on my bar and use it very often.

LOL yes! It was an idea I asked for! Once I saw @b77 's description of the tool I realized instantly what it was and remembered I had requested it. Slightly embarrassed over here. lol
It's a terrific tool and I will be using it all the time now. I'm really happy to hear you like it (when it works on windows) and use it a lot.
