@vectoradmin We spoke about this some over email but I wanted to add to that topic here in the forum as I gave this issue more thought.
Testing out repeater more, I'm still confused why it will not properly work with expanded text. You had mentioned it had to do with it being glyphs, but wouldn't former live text that is converted to curves technically be considered "regular" vector shapes at that point?

Here is a video corresponding to the paragraph description below:

I tested out making a word with a font and then converting it to curves and then applying a repeater to it - it made the word invisible. I then tried making two rectangle shapes and converting those to curves. Theoretically, they should be the same type of vector as the expanded word... so when the two objects were not combined prior, using repeater made one box disappear and filled the one rectangle as expected. When I made the two rectangles a combined shape and applied the repeater, it worked as would be expected, creating the pattern in both rectangles combined as "one"

I went ahead and tried one other experiment - I made another line of live text, converted it to curves, and this time, I combined it all together using the combine boolean operation. I then added a small square and used both the expanded combined word and the square to make a repeater pattern like before... it failed.

So what's odd to me is that the repeater works fine with regular shapes converted to curves, it works with regular shapes converted to curves and combined together to make "one" shape, but it will not cooperate with converted to curves shapes made from fonts - whether combined or not...
Speaking for myself, adding repeaters to letters that were formerly live text is something I foresee wanting to do often.

Here is the test file I used for both videos - everything should still be there even if it's not visible as result of the repeater issue

@Boldline Repeater is not working with expanded text in the current version (due to a bug).
But it should work with non-expanded text (editable text).

The root cause of this is that expanded text results in a group, and the repeater has a bug when used on groups.

The fix for this will be in the next build.

Awesome! thanks for explaining this. And that's interesting about the repeater working with live text, I had not experimented with that. I'm actually REALLY excited about that possibility as it sounds like it means I could swap out the letters and keep the repeater in place for situations like that... that's a game-changer for sure.

Glad to hear about the fixes coming for the expanded text in the next build!
