in this situation, Offset path preview seems to disappear when I set the value to less than 0.186 inches

sometimes switching to "round" helps, but not in this case.

restarting VS did not fix it

@Boldline It might be some issue with the preview.
Try enabling the Stroke and set a stroke color.
