      Attached. Dragging object inside other object and selecting ungroup: only one of the objects survive, the one that was dragged inside.

      Group and upgroup works as expected, all objects survive on ungroup.

        @Ingolf This is a bit of a problem: when ungrouping, the content of the group is the one that survives. The group itself (without its content) will be removed, even if it has a shape (in this case the clipping shape).

        Maybe if the group has a shape, it should be kept as a separate object?

          Maybe Affinity has the same design problem so they opted to disable 'ungroup' for objects with objects inside. This is what I would prefer in VS as well because it simply blocks loss of data/objects. Users will not understand what is happening and sometimes probably not notice it before it is too late.
