      Notice: Accumulated into mega-topic.

      In the gif below I perform three actions, each as soon as the field editing is active or the name text area has been clicked, in order:

      1. Pressing ctrl + a as a common way to select all the text.
      2. Quickly double clicking the name text area in expectation to go into field editing.
      3. Repeatedly pressing ctrl + backspace as a common way to delete whole words.

      One results in all layers / objects being selected instead.
      Two results in the object options modal view popping up instead.
      Three results in whitespace being generated instead.

      EDIT: Gif now supplied, a bit delayed.

          @vectoradmin Quick update: I've noticed that when the object options pop up after double-clicking the name area, the text field is already autofocused, which enables one to type in the name and then close the options with Enter. So this actually works nicely, which reduces the problem here to the two bugs I described above.

            @Nils Forgot to mention:
            (2) can be configured in the Layers panel menu Panel Options (bottom) by checking Double Click Renames option (bottom-right).
