Grid - is this intended behavior and a setting?

I went from 20pt point grid to 10pt but grid was not updated on the screen. This I discovered zooming in and out displays the grid as 20pt zoomed out and 10 point zoomed in.

Snapping works correctly it seems but... I would really like my changes to appear on screen when I edit grid settings no matter the zoom level and I am not crazy about the behavior anyway.

@Ingolf There has to be a "thinning of the herd" of lines at low zoom levels, otherwise the objects will get buried under them.

Should the app not switch to that so soon (doesn't seem to me), or maybe switch to point grid instead?

It happens too soon; well, shouldn't happen like this. I imported the file in AD where the grid is tiny but accurate. Below 17% AD hides it.

And above the magic decimal number 75.83% I get a more usable rendering:

At zoom levels below 75,83% the grid is visually useless. My suggestion would be to look at how other programs render grids, I never had this issue before. When a grid gets too detailed I simply hide it. That typically means I am zoomed so far out that the grid makes no sense anyway, visually. Hence, AD that hides it at zoom levels < 17%.

I don't remember how Illustrator does it. Booting my work machine now to prepare for Monday morning, sigh, so perhaps I'll check Illustrator and CorelDRAW there.

Allright, but the default value should be significantly lower. Half of the current or even 1/3. Try fiddling with Illustrator, it behaves like VS but with a much smaller minimum. This is the print large template at 0,31%:

Further, could we have subdivisions? It makes the grid so much easier on the eye:

@vectoradmin Would it be difficult to have the grid go from intersected lines to small crosses to dots, to no grid when zooming out?
