      Only tested in Windows build:

      Happens:

      • If you stop creating a path with ESC
      • If you stop creating it with double click

        @Ingolf Yes, it was like this before. Pressing Esc, or double clicking will complete the path, but this also means that it must deselect it. If a path is selected, then it can be continued with the Pen tool.

          It is not how it works in other programs and it is not a good idea 🙂 It makes no sense.

            @Ingolf Not directly related, but possibly helpful:

            If the first thing you want to do after finishing a path is editing its nodes, you can do it by holding down the Cmd key which switches to shape editing mode.

            Then releasing it reverts to the Pen tool.

            MacBook Pro (Intel) running Monterey 12.6.4
