Move Node Broken ?

If I create an object with the pen tool, select a node using the shape editor, pull up the move panel and set the node to move say 2mm vertical - nothing.
If I select the whole object using the transform tool, pull up the move panel and do the same, works fine. Selecting all nodes with the shape editor also doesn't work.

I'd currently bet 50 (insert your favourite currency here) that there's a default preference for that
