Bizarre nudge behaviour

I've overcome the problem by moving the groups that I need to reposition, onto their own layers, which is probably the best workflow choice going forward when putting jobs together in VS.
Also trying to use the Arc distortion tool to distort a label to a tapered popcorn bucket cutter guide, and discovered it doesn't work on text within a text frame - is there any way around it without converting to paths?

@Dazmondo The text frame content is not distorted by shape effects.
The workaround is to use text shape, in this case convert the text frame to text shape.
I will try to replicate the group nudging issues.
