Flickering when adjusting image effects

Maybe reported before but here goes:
I see this rather distracting flickering when I adjust image effects. It takes some mental focus away from evaluating the effects themselves. macOS, v1.1.061.
Speaking of which, the black outline of the object is even more in the way, but I think I've already requested/suggested that that sort of thing not be displayed while actively adjusting e.g. effects.

@Ingolf I think both the flickering and the black outline could be solved if selection highlight would not show while adjusting the effect.
I added this to the backlog.
