Brush color switches to white when change is made to brush size with bracket keys

Occasionally, the brush color switches to white and away from the default black when changing the brush size

Another video example from a new file - seems to happen when the default color is set but if you swap the brush color to something else, it will not switch to white again

I do have the "Update Brush Tool Width" selected if that is a factor
