Separate Path with Eraser Tool Broken

In v1.068, with the prefs separate path with eraser tool selected, the eraser tool is not breaking the path to the selected diameter of the eraser, it is doing as it used to do, it is simply erasing the path shape from within object and not breaking the boundary.
At least it is on my copy and I need to use this constantly

It would, but yet again another elusive issue - it's not doing it today with the same file and same size and setup (as always!) brush. It may be some sequence of events that breaks it. I'll be sure to try and remember what happened prior to it breaking. Obviously, a restart seems to fix it
